2010 Public Gardening Events in and around New Hampshire
March 17
What is the name of that tree?

Want to learn more about the trees in your yard or neighborhood?  On Wednesday, March 17th, at 7PM, at Hadley Hall, Congregational Church, Main St., Hampstead, join the Hampstead Garden Club for a presentation by club members and NH Master Gardeners, Suzy Martin and Mary Winchell.  They will teach us all about trees including how to prune them, how they work, which trees are the best to grow in our area, and the importance of the trees roots to its overall health.  This event is free and open to the public.

While you are with us you can learn about the ways that we are involved with our community. The HGC plants and maintains five major gardens around town, Ordway Park and Ellie's Garden, Sign Island, The Library Storybook Garden, Veterans' Memorial Gardens and the Fire Station.  Volunteers from the club also tend gardens at the Police Station, Meeting House, the Museum and the Butterfly Garden at Shop Pond.  We design, arrange and hang the holiday decorations on many of the town buildings including the Police station, Fire Station, Library, Town Hall, Meeting House, Historical Museum and Town Sign.  We also reach out to the community with our Gorham Grant, which is given to a local school each year and the NHFGC Scholarship.

The HGC meets monthly, usually on the third Wednesday of each month at Hadley Hall (Congregational Church, Main St., Hampstead) or other designated venues and is a non-profit educational organization whose purpose is to encourage an interest in all aspects of gardening, promote civic beauty and the conservation of natural resources.  Hampstead residency is not required.  If you would like more information about us please contact Membership Chair, Kim Sharpe, at 329-6468.  Check out the garden club's website at http://www.hampsteadgarden.org.  The Hampstead Garden Club is a member of the NH Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. New England Region, and National Garden Clubs, Inc.
